What we do with your data.

The short version

We collect only what we need to give you a useful audit.
Your uploaded contract is encrypted at rest and never shared with any 3PL.
Anonymised line items may be added to the AU 3PL Pricing Index — but only with your explicit consent.
Raw contracts are auto-deleted from storage after 90 days unless you ask us to keep them longer.
You can request deletion or export of your data at any time. We respond within 7 business days.

Who we are

3PL Compare ("we", "us", "our") is operated from Sydney, Australia. We are an independent review and matching service for ecommerce brands considering their fulfilment partners. We are not a marketplace and do not sell brand data to 3PL providers.

What information we collect

Information you provide

When you submit the audit form: brand name, email, phone (optional), monthly order volume, fulfilment city, current 3PL (optional), context for the review, and your contract or rate card document.
When you use the diagnostic widget: city selection, storage rate, pick & pack rate. These are not stored unless you opt to receive an emailed report.
When you contact us: the content of your email and any attachments.

Information collected automatically

Analytics: we use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-respecting tool. Plausible does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not store IP addresses or any personally identifying information. Aggregate page views and event counts only.
Server logs: our hosting provider (Cloudflare) keeps standard request logs for security and abuse prevention. These are retained for up to 30 days.

Information we don't collect

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking pixels.
We do not have any social-media share buttons that load tracking scripts.
We do not run advertising of any kind on this site.

How we use your data

We use the information you provide to:

Produce a contract audit and email it to you within 48 hours.
If you opt in: introduce you to vetted alternative 3PL providers based on your needs.
Improve the AU 3PL Pricing Index (anonymised aggregate figures only, with your explicit per-contract consent).
Respond to your questions, support requests, and audit follow-ups.

We do not use your data for marketing emails unless you have explicitly subscribed to a newsletter or opted in.

How we store and protect your data

Encryption. Uploaded contracts and rate cards are encrypted at rest using AES-256. Connections to our site use TLS 1.2 or higher.

Access. Only the operator team has access to raw uploaded contracts. Access is logged. We do not give 3PL partners access to brand-side data of any kind.

Retention. Raw uploaded contracts are auto-deleted from active storage 90 days after submission unless you request that we retain them for ongoing advisory work. Audit reports we send to you remain in your inbox; we keep a copy for 12 months for support purposes, then delete.

Backup. Encrypted backups are retained for 30 days, then permanently deleted. Backups are not accessible to 3PL partners under any circumstances.

Who we share data with

We do not share your contract or rate card with any 3PL provider — full stop. Not even an anonymised summary. Not even after the audit. Not at any point in our relationship with you.

Limited exceptions where we may share data:

Service providers we rely on to operate (e.g. our email host, our hosting provider Cloudflare, our form processor Formspree). These providers are bound by their own privacy commitments and do not access content unless required for the service.
Legal compliance if required by Australian law, court order, or regulator request. We will notify you unless legally prohibited.
Business transfer if 3PL Compare is acquired or merges with another entity. In that case, your data and your privacy choices transfer with it. We will notify users 30 days in advance and offer the option to delete data before transfer.

Anonymised data and the Pricing Index

With your explicit consent, we may include anonymised line items from your contract in the AU 3PL Pricing Index. "Anonymised" means: no brand name, no contract identifiers, no provider name, no figures small enough to be re-identifiable.

You can withdraw consent at any time, and we will remove your line items from future Index volumes. (We cannot retroactively unpublish prior volumes already cited externally, but we will not include your data in any new volume.)

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Correct any information that is inaccurate or out of date.
Delete your data at any time (we'll confirm within 7 business days).
Export your data in a portable format on request.
Withdraw consent for inclusion in the Pricing Index.
Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we've mishandled your data.

Cookies

We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or tracking. The only browser storage we use is for remembering your filter preferences on the pricing index page (e.g. which volume tier is selected). This is local to your browser and never transmitted to us.

Children

Our service is for ecommerce business operators. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as our practices evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. For material changes (e.g. new categories of data collected, changes to retention), we will notify users by email.
